Nitronic 60 Flanges (UNS S21800) - Anti-Galling Stainless Flanges

Nitronic 60 flanges per ASME B16.5 and B16.47, API 6A, UNS S21800
Nitronic 60 flanges per ASME B16.5 and B16.47

Nitronic 60 flanges (UNS S21800) cover weld-neck, slip-on, blind, socket-weld, and lap-joint flange geometries per ASME B16.5 / B16.47 / API 6A. Used where flange-bolting galling at make-up or sealing-face galling under pressure cycling is the controlling failure mode.

TorqBolt stocks Nitronic 60 (UNS S21800) at our Mumbai head office and Rajkot production plant. Each consignment ships with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certification by default and 3.2 dual-witnessed inspection (Lloyds, TUV, DNV, BV) on request. Nitronic 60 Flanges Specifications

Weld-neck, slip-on, socket-weld, lap-joint, blind, and threaded flange patterns across the full pressure-class range.

  • Size range: 1/2 inch through 60 inch NPS; pressure classes 150 through 2500 (ASME) or 2000 through 20000 psi (API 6A).
  • Standards: ASME B16.5 (1/2 to 24 in NPS) / ASME B16.47 (26 to 60 in NPS) / API 6A (wellhead).
  • Weld-neck flanges: full-strength-weld joint, ideal for high-pressure / high-cycle / sour service.
  • Slip-on flanges: easier alignment, two-fillet-weld attachment, lower pressure-class service.
  • Socket-weld flanges: small-bore use, fillet-weld externally.
  • Lap-joint flanges: bolt-hole rotation freedom for alignment, separate stub-end required.
  • Blind flanges: solid disc for pipe-end or vessel-opening closure.
  • API 6A wellhead flanges: classes 2000 / 3000 / 5000 / 10000 / 15000 / 20000 psi, NACE MR0175 sour-service compliant in annealed temper. See API 6A.

Mechanical Properties

Yield 55 ksi (380 MPa) min, tensile 95 ksi (655 MPa) min, elongation 35% min (annealed). Hardness Rockwell B95-95 typical. See full mechanical specification with bar / forging / wire conditions →

Galling Resistance

Nitronic 60 threshold stress 50,000 psi+ per ASTM G98 vs 304/316L at 4,000-6,000 psi — 5 to 10× better galling resistance. See full ASTM G98 data and galling failure mechanism →

Heat Treatment

Solution anneal only at 1900-1950°F followed by water quench. No precipitation hardening response. See full heat treatment specification →

Welding

Matching filler ER218 per AMS 5847. GTAW, GMAW, and SMAW all qualified. No PWHT required for typical thicknesses. See full welding procedure →

Material Selection

Nitronic 60 wins for anti-galling at high temperature where 304/316L gall. Stellite is harder but brittle. vs 316L · vs Nitronic 50 · austenitic context →

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes of flanges are stocked?

1/2 inch through 60 inch NPS; pressure classes 150 through 2500 (ASME) or 2000 through 20000 psi (API 6A). Custom larger sizes and special tolerances quoted on a 4 to 8 week lead time.

What standards govern flanges?

ASME B16.5 (1/2 to 24 in NPS) / ASME B16.47 (26 to 60 in NPS) / API 6A (wellhead). Customer specifications may add explicit dimensional, surface, or test requirements.

Can flanges be supplied in cold-worked HS condition?

Yes. Solution-annealed (S-A) is standard. Cold-worked HS condition reaches 620 MPa yield and 30 HRC maximum hardness; specify on order.

What surface finishes are available?

Mill / pickled-passivated standard per ASTM A380. Polished, 2B mill, and 2D mill finishes available on request. Sanitary-finish (Ra 0.4 to 0.8 um) for food-processing service.

What certification ships with flanges?

EN 10204 3.1 mill test certification by default. EN 10204 3.2 dual-witnessed third-party (Lloyds, TUV, DNV, BV) on request.
